The issues of improving the feed base of pig breeding through optimization of the composition of compound feed have been discussed. It has been noted that a distinctive feature of the varieties of hulless barley Nudum 95 is increased energy nutrition, high protein content, amino acids, macro- and micronutrients. In addition, the caryopsis of this variety is free fl owering glumes and is characterized by low fi ber content. During the study of the chemical composition of grain it has been established, compared with the chaff y barley equivalent (variety Chelyabinsk 99) the crude protein content in hulless barley variety was by 7,6 % higher than in the chaff y barley. The amount of crude fi ber and crude ash in hulless variety is lower than that of the chaff y barley in 2,1 and 1,3 times, respectively. The recipes of compound feed for young pigs during the period of rearing (PC-4), in the fattening period (PC-6) and for feeding in the second phase of fattening (PC-7) have been developed, allowing through the use of high-quality grain hulless barley variety Nudum 95 to exclude from the composition of compound feed such expensive components as soybean and sunfl ower meal. As the result is reduction in the cost of each of the recipes, respectively 1365-1293-371 Rub/t. The coeffi cients of digestibility of dry and organic matter higher in animals consuming hulless barley Nudum 95 by 7,0 % and 4,1 % respectively, crude protein by 9,6 %, crude fat by 3,1 %, nitrogen-free extractive substances by 2,1 % compared to the control group. The average daily gain of live weight of young pigs, consumed as part of the diet of hulless barley was higher by 18,4 %, while feed conversion decreased by 9,4 %.
