Researches have been carried out to study the possibility of using bentonite for feeding dairy cows in addition to the main feeding ration taking into account the mineral composition and physic and chemical properties of bentonite of the Zamankul deposit that are useful for digestive metabolism (sorption and ion exchange abilities, catalytic and surface activity, etc.). The reconnaissance experiment, lasting 6 months (from April to October 2018), has been carried out in the farm of the village of Zmeyskaya in the Kirovsky district in the Rebublic Nrthern Ossetia-Alania. For researches, in order to determine the optimal dose of bentonite feed 40 cows of Simmental breed of the third and fourth lactations have been selected, which were divided according to the principle of pairs of analogues into 4 groups of ten heads in each. Monthly control milk yields of cows, laboratory analyses, calculations of coefficients of biological value of milk and biological efficiency of cows, feed consumption per kilogram of milk established the optimal dose of top dressing with bentonite-1,0 % bentonite based on the dry matter of the feeding ration. The coefficient of biological value of the milk has provided by cows 1st experimental group was more than control group by 4,6 % (Р < 0,1), the 2nd experimental group was significantly higher than control by 7,9 % (Р < 0,01), 3rd experimental by 6,6 % (Р < 0,1). The coefficients of biological efficiency of cows, respectively, and economic, were also slightly higher in the animals of the experimental groups in relation to the control group, but the difference between the control and the 2nd experimental group was significant (7,3 % at Р < 0,01). Feed consumption per 1 kilogram of milk in the 1st experimental group was less by 0,15 kg EFU, in the 2nd experimental group by 0,2 EFU and in the 3rd experimental group by 0,17 EFU when compared with the control.
