Relevance. The most important task for workers in the country’s agro-industrial complex is to provide the population with high-quality food products, including ones of animal origin. At the same time, special attention is paid to the development of dairy farming. Dairy cattle provide a valuable food product and raw material for the processing industry – milk. Milk is a product created by nature itself, suitable for consumption by people of any age and health status [1, 2, 4]. For its production, cattle of dairy breeds of domestic and foreign selection are used, such as black-and-white, Holstein, Kholmogorskaya, etc.

In the past few decades, the improvement of domestic dairy cattle has been due to the widespread use of the gene pool of the world’s best breed – the Holstein. As a result of crossing the breeding stock of the domestic black-and-white breed with servicing bulls of the Holstein breed, an array of crossbred animals was created in different regions of the country, which differ among themselves depending on the climatic and feeding conditions of the breeding zone. The differences lie in the breed resources of the domestic cattle of the regions and servicing bulls of the Holstein breed of various selections. The resulting animals differ in terms of economically useful and genotypic qualities.

So, in the Sverdlovsk Region in 2002, the Ural type of black-and-white cattle with a high level of blood in the Holstein breed was officially registered. Animals of this type are large, with high milk productivity, average indicators of fat mass fraction and protein mass fraction in milk [3, 5–8]. However, when breeding the Ural type of cattle, along with positive results, certain problems were revealed associated with reproductive abilities, including productive longevity, which, in turn, put the issues of raising replacement young animals in the first place [10–14].

An analysis of the results of rearing heifers and an assessment of the relationship between their growth indicators, depending on their origin, is relevant and of practical importance.
