Providing the population of the Central Black-Earth Region with fruit products is the main task of gardeners, which can be solved by increasing the area under perishable stonecrops that respond to the elements of production intensification, capable of producing stable commercial fruit yields [1].
One of such crops is apricot, which in the conditions of the Voronezh Region is popular due to large-fruited universal fruits used fresh, dried or frozen, for processing in the food and confectionery industry. For its tastiness, nutritional value, incomparable apricot aroma, medicinal and dietary properties, apricot has acquired a special place among fruit crops [2].
Thanks to the selection of I. V. Michurin apricot has received recognition and distribution among gardeners of the Central Black-Earth Region, currently, it is a promising crop that combines such valuable biological properties as fertility, precocity, yield, large fruit and fruit quality. In his work, I. V. Michurin wrote: "Who among the lovers of fruit growing, living outside the apricot breeding line, did not have the desire to have these noble fruit plants in their garden. The harsh, deeply continental climate of central Russia is an insurmountable obstacle, which can only be moved by omnipotent hybridization and selection of varieties" [4].
The Michurin work on the creation of winter-hardy varieties for the conditions of the Voronezh Region was continued by M. M. Ulyanishchev, A. N. Venyaminov, L. A. Dolmatova, R. G. Nozdracheva et al. [3].
The promotion of apricots in the areas of the Central Black-Earth Region is done on the basis of the creation of a local assortment with high winter hardiness of wood and flower buds and agricultural techniques developed in accordance with the biological characteristics of the plant, taking into account the reaction to environmental conditions.
The plant is heat- and light-loving, resistant to air and soil drought, less demanding of soil properties and can grow on calcareous, stony soils, unlike other breeds [5].
