According to analysts’ forecasts, the provision of the Russian market with the domestic cucumber grown on a protected ground in 2021 may amount to about 90 % of the current consumption [1]. Economic criteria are a priority in the choice of crop cultivation technologies [5].
The research was carried out on the territory of «Agrocomplex» Ivanisovo» the greenhouse farm (Elektrostal, Moscow Region). To date, one of the best hybrids of brachycarpous cucumber is F1 Bjorn, bred by Enza Zaden [2].
It is very risky to have only one brachycarpous cucumber hybrid produced by a foreign company in a greenhouse. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out regular variety testing of domestic hybrids.
One of these hybrids is the F1 Bavarets bred by the Gavrish company. It outstands by its high shade tolerance, excellent load and attractive marketable fruits [3]. In March 2020, a variety testing of the F1 Bavarets hybrids of the Gavrish company selection and the F1 Bjorn hybrid was started. The main external difference of F1 Bavarets is its small tuberosity, which is somewhat different from the generally accepted standard of the brachycarpous cucumber of the Lukhovitsky type.
The plants were grown on a high trellis using the lowering technology using assimilation lighting with a power of 240 W/m2. Substrate — mineral wool of the Belagro company, a cube with dimensions of 100 x 100 x 65 mm, mat — 1000x150x100 mm. Plant density: 2.86 r/m2, the area of the experimental plots is 297.2 m2, the number of plants — 852 pcs. respectively [6].
The date of sowing for seedlings is February 11, 2020, the date of planting in the greenhouse is March 6, 2020, the date of the first harvest is March 19, 2020, the start date of mass cathedrals is March 21, 2020. The final collection of F1 Bjorn and F1 Bavarets was scheduled for February 28, 2021, but the turnover was extended and the final collection was held on August 16, 2020. Phenological observations showed that from the moment of planting (March 6, 2020) within 14 days, the seedlings of both hybrids developed the same way, however, in the period from the 14th to the 21st day, a clear inhibition of the growth of F1 Bavarets became noticeable [4]. It was decided to reduce the power of assimilation lighting over F1 Bavarets by half (120 W/m2). Within five days, the recovery of F1 Bavarets plants was noted, and further significant differences in their phenotype were not observed. This work presents the analysis of the yield at the time of the originally planned turnover end date — June 28, 2021.
